Parthenium Week Celebration

KVK, Chhatarpur organized Parthenium Eradication Week from 16th to 22nd August 2013 at different villages namely Nowgong, Singrawankala, Jhijhan and Madarka. Under this farmers meeting, lectures, gosthi, uprooting and student rallies were organized by the KVK. During this farmers were explained about the spread and multiplication of Parthenium and made aware about the harmful effects of Parthenium to crops, human and animals and also made aware regarding occurrence of skin diseases, eczema, asthma and allergies etc.. In addition the uses of Parthenium were explained in detail about its advent in India and the popular control measures and biological control by specific insects. They were informed that insect is provided free of cost by Directorate of Weed Science Research, Jabalpur. They were advised to control it by spraying of weedicides like metsulphuron, Glyphosate, 2,4-D, metribuzin etc, brine solution and uprooting before flowering stage and using it in making of NADEP and Composting.
